Abilene Christian's men and St. Augustine's women captured titles at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Raleigh, NC.
ACU, who had been shut out in team scoring for the first two days, chalked up victories in six of ten running events. Nic Alexander won both the 100m and 200m races to lead the Wildcats surge. ACC finished 1-2 in the 200m dash and 1500m run and picked up second place in the 5000m to go with victories in the 100m, 400m, 800m and 4X100 relay to talley 115 total points. St. Augustine's closed strong with 37 points in the triple jump and 4X400 relay to finish second with 71 points.
The St. Aug women used their strength in the sprints to top Abilene Christian for the women's title. The Lady Falcons's Tanya Oxley won the 200m dash and 400m dash and ran legs in the victorious 4X100 relay and 4X400 relay to outdistance the Lady Wildcats, 77-66. St. Aug also won the high jump and made up a 22 point deficit in four of the final five events of the day.
