The CIAA will hold its annual Volleyball Championship, October 30-31, on the campus of Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, NC.
The top four teams in each division will compete for the conference title. Eastern Division participants include: Shaw (10-0, 14-2, 20-12), Virginia Union (7-3, 9-7, 13-7), Bowie State (7-3, 11-5, 13-9) and Virginia State (3-7, 3-13, 6-14). Representing the Western Division are: St. Augustine's (8-2, 12-4, 14-11), N.C. Central (7-3, 13-3, 17-14), Fayetteville State (7-3, 12-4, 16-20) and Johnson C. Smith (6-4, 10-6, 10-6). Matches begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Health, Physical Education and Recreational Complex on campus. The Championship game is scheduled for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (See attached schedule of events).The 1999 All-CIAA and All-Rookie Teams have been selected by the CIAA Volleyball Coaches Association. Deidra Fields, Bowie State University, heads the All-CIAA Team and has been named the 1999 CIAA Player of the Year. Stacy Williams of Shaw University was chosen 1999 Rookie of the Year.
