North Carolina Central Claims CIAA Volleyball Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University defeated Shaw University in four (15-4, 15-8, 13-15, 15-8) to win the 25th Annual CIAA Volleyball Championship today on the campus of Fayetteville State University. The Lady Eagles defeated St. Augustine's (4-15, 15-3, 15-13, 15-9) and the Lady Bears defeated Fayetteville State (16-18, 13-15, 15-9, 15-11, 15-13) to advance to the championship round.

Rena Armwood, N.C. Central, was named Tournament MVP. Armwood, an outside hitter, finished the day with 29 kills, 69 total attacks, 5 assists, 32 digs and 5 blocks.
