CIAA SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP KICKS OFF
All CIAA and All Rookie Teams Unveiled

April 13, 2000

Fayetteville, NC  - The rain failed to allow for the completion of round one of the 2000 CIAA  softball Tournament held in Fayetteville, NC. Fayetteville State hosts the championship which is being held at Veterans Softball Complex and Seabrook Parks. Bowie State, Elizabeth City State, Virginia State and Winston-Salem State all knocked off their opponent to advance in the winner's bracket. Games continue tomorrow (Friday)as Eastern Division champion, Bowie State takes on Elizabeth City State, the #3 seed in the East at 10:00 am. Western Division champion, Winston-Salem State, will play Virginia State (#2 in the East) at 10: 00 am. All remaining games will be played at Veterans Park.

The 2000 All-CIAA and All-Rookie Teams were also announced today. Kenisha Williams (Sr., catcher from St. Paul, NC) was voted Player of the Year for her superlative efforts this season. She led the Lady Rams to a 27‑1 overall regular season record. Williams currently leads the CIAA in RBI's (41) and homeruns (4).

Lady Ram Angela Booe was named CIAA Rookie of the Year. The Davidson, NC native is a pitcher who adds depth to the WSSU lineup.
