St. Augustine's Women's Track Team Declared National Champion;
Falcon Men Take Second

Raleigh, NC -- The Lady Falcons of St. Augustine's College claimed the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field title this weekend in Raleigh, NC, edging out Abilene Christian 77-66. St. Augustine's took first place in the 200 meter dash (Tanya Oxley, 23.21), 4X100 meter relay (Juliet Brown, Tanya Oxley, Anna Teschmaker and Wilna Nelson, 44.93), 4X400 meter relay (Juliet Brown, Florencia Hunt, Tynisha Teal, and Tanya Oxley, 3:39.90) and high jump (Adriane Simms, 1.78 meters). The Lady Falcons came from 22 points behind to make a strong finish in the final events. St. Augustine's last held this honor in 1997 when they topped Abilene Christian, 81-69.

St. Augustine's men took second place to Abilene Christian, 115-71. Abilene Christian, reigning champion, racked up115 points on the final day of competition to take the crown. St. Augustine's finished number one in the long jump (Dane Magloire, 7.52 meters), 4X400 meter relay (James White, Stephen Demerittee, Prince Huffman, and Kevin Buzzar, 3:07.4) and the triple jump (Tim Rusan, 16.23 meters).
