CIAA Legends Classic To Be Held In Norfolk, VA

Norfolk, VA - A press conference was held today at the Norfolk Scope to kick off The Inaugural CIAA Legends Basketball Classic. The Classic is scheduled for Sunday, January 7, 2001 at the Norfolk Scope.

The four CIAA institutions in closest proximity to the Tidewater area have been selected to participate in the double header event. St. Paul's College will host Virginia Union University at 4:00 p.m. and Elizabeth City State University will take on Virginia State University in the final match up at 6:00 p.m.

Preceding the Classic, committee members will add flavor to the weekend with a Fashion Show and a Gospel Fest on January 6. The Classic is sure to revitalize the presence of the CIAA in the Tidewater area where a large portion of our fan base resides. Proceeds from the Classic will benefit the Southside Boys and Girls Club of Norfolk.

Ticket prices are $15.00 for the general public and $7.00 for students and will be available on September 1, 2000.

The Legends Classic also features a Golf Tournament which will be held on July 18, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at Stumpy Lake Golf Course in Virginia Beach, VA. The tournament will feature CIAA coaching greats like Bobby Vaughan, Ernie Fears, Charles Christian, Big House Gaines, Barry Hamler, Dave Robbins, Dick Price, George Moody, Bob Smith and Darnell Moore. Green fees are $75.00 per person or $300.00 per team. Make your reservations by the deadline Of July 11, 2000.
