Dennis Harris - Virginia State, OG, 6'3, 300, SR, Ruther Glen, VA
In the last game of the season, Harris protected the line that allowed quarterback Antonio Hawkins to complete 27 of 45 passes for 363 yards. The Trojans finished the day with 475 offensive yards.

Receiver
Damon Thompson - Virginia State, WR, 6'0, 182, JR, Richmond, VA
Thompson was impressive on the gridiron in the game against Elizabeth City State, catching a career high 16 receptions for a career high 261 yards and one touchdown. His longest receptions was for 76 yards.

Offensive Back
Tory Woodbury - Winston-Salem State, QB, 6'3, 205, JR, Winston-Salem, NC
In the game against Division I Grambling State University, Woodbury led the offensive charge with 20 receptions for 198 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 66 yards and one touchdown in the Rams loss to the Tigers, 25-23.

Defensive Lineman
Ohnja Bynum - Virginia State, LB, 6'0, 215, JR, Franklin, VA
Bynum registered seven total tackles (4 solo, 3 assisted), including one tackle for a loss of one yard as the Trojans defeated Elizabeth City State, 45-17.

Defensive Back
Ralph Hunter - Virginia Union, DB, 6'3, 180, SO, Atlantic City, NJ
On the road at Johnson C. Smith University, Hunter help spoil the Golden Bulls’ Homecoming with four tackles, two pass break-ups, and one blocked punt. He also had one interception returned for a 36 yard touchdown.

Damon Thompson - Virginia State, KR/PR, 6'0, 182, JR, Richmond, VA
Once again Thompson earns dual honors with his outstanding performance in Saturday’s action. He had five punt returns for 87 yards and three kickoff returns for 71 yards, in addition to his 261 receiving yards and 23 rushing yards. He finished the game with 442 all-purpose yards.

Coach
Willard Bailey - Virginia Union
Coach Bailey and the Panthers ended the season strong with an impressive win over Johnson C. Smith, 50-6. The Panthers finished second in the conference with a record of 6-1 and 8-2 overall.

News Notes

Damon Thompson, Virginia State University, finished the season by setting a new CIAA Season Reception Record (90), breaking his old record of 88 set last season. He also set a new CIAA Single Game Reception Yards Record earlier in the year with 254 yards. He surpassed that record with 261 yards in Saturday’s game versus Elizabeth City State.
