The CIAA is proud to have a Shaw Alumnus to speak at the 2000 Volleyball Championship Honors Banquet to be held on the campus of Bowie State University, November 3, 2000.
Carol Walker, a former Shaw University standout, serves on the Division I, University of Miami, athletic staff as Athletic Academic Advisor. Walker, a former Lady Bear Volleyball and Softball student-athlete, was the 1996 NCAA Ethnic Minority Postgraduate Scholarship recipient.
The CIAA Volleyball Honors Banquet acknowledges the All-Conference Volleyball and Rookie teams. Shaw University's LaTanya McDaniel of Warrensville, Maryland is named 2000 CIAA Player of the Year. Saint Augustine's College's Katrina Johnson of Nassau, Bahamas is named 2000 Rookie of the Year.
The CIAA Volleyball Championship begins with pool play at 9:00 am on Saturday, November 4 at the AC Jordan Arena, Bowie State University. Pool A consists of Shaw University, Bowie State University, Saint Augustine's College, Livingstone College. Pool B consists of Fayetteville State University, North Carolina Central University, Virginia Union University, and Saint Paul's College. The best record out of each pool advances to the 11:00 am semi-finals on Sunday; with finals at 1 pm. Admission is free.
