The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s public relations and marketing program for 2000-01, through the Raleigh based Richard French and Associates, is selected as a finalist for the 2001 Public Relations Society of America’s Silver Anvil.
Winning a Silver Anvil in the public relation industry is the equivalent of holding an Academy Award, (Oscar) in the movie industry. Just as those movie actors say, “It’s truly an honor to be nominated”, for to receive a nod from the Public Relations Society of American is to say we are operating amongst the top in the nation.
And in such great Academy Award nominated movies; there are great crews that take part in creating award-winning products. Richard French and Associates, the pr/marketing arm of the CIAA, is part of the team that assisted in the student attendance increase for the annual Basketball Tournament with the creative mobile marketing programs of the CIAA Campus Party, CIAA Hip Hop Hoops and CIAA Scream the Theme Tours. Even more impressive, was directing a spotlight to the CIAA through national media exposure such as the March 2nd front-page cover story in USA Today
These efforts are attributed to the 500 % increase of student ticket sales, economic impact of 8.8 million dollars to Raleigh and Wake County and a 30% increase in attendance in two consecutive years, from 42,000 to 74,000 in a week’s span.
The winners will be announced June 14, 2001.
