DURHAM, NC -- North Carolina Central University sophomore Katerina Glosova, the reigning conference champion in women's cross country, will look to repeat the feat on Thursday (Oct. 26) when Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro, NC hosts the 2000 CIAA Cross County Championships at 9 a.m.
Glosova, a native of Cernotin, Czech Republic, has not finished behind a conference opponent in two seasons of competition at NCCU. As a freshman in 1999, she won the CIAA Women's Championship, placed third at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional, and became the first athlete from NCCU to qualify for the NCAA Championship in cross country.
"Katerina is way ahead of where she was at this time last year," said head coach Michael Lawson. "She is in the best physical shape of her life." After the CIAA Championship event, Glosova has her sights set on a return trip to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional, which will also be held in Greensboro on Nov. 4. Her goal is to win the Regional and advance to the 2000 NCAA Division II Championship in Pomona, California on Nov. 18.
