Raleigh, NC - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) has long been known for great athletics, impacting the lives of young people and making a difference in the community. On February 22, the CIAA will team up with The Home Depot to create a KaBOOM! Playground in Durham as a part of the legacy of the 56th Annual CIAA Basketball Tournament.
"The Home Depot is pleased to contribute to the ongoing success of one of the country's most historic and exciting basketball tournaments," said Ana Campo, director, Multi-cultural Programs at The Home Depot. "One of Home Depot's core values is respecting all people, and we believe our support of diverse activities such as the CIAA tournament, enable us to share these values with the wonderful athletes and fans who will be participating in this great event."
KaBOOM! is the only organization in the country that specializes in linking communities and corporations together to build much-needed safe and accessible playgrounds. Through this team effort, KaBOOM! helps communities create a model of partnerships that achieve positive and sustainable changes in neighborhoods nationwide. KaBOOM!'s ideology is that playgrounds create excellent spaces for parents and grandparents to spend time with their children and for neighbors to build vital social networks within their communities.
The KaBOOM! Playground will be built on the graounds of Calvary Ministries of the West End Community at Lyon Park Recreation Center at 1313 Halley Street in Durham. The CIAA playground marks the 53rd playground sponsored by The Home Depot.
