The most talented senior men and women basketball athletes chosen from the four conferences of Historically Black Colleges and Universities along with select players from independent Black Colleges will participate in the Black College All-Star Classic, Saturday, April 21, 2001 in Baltimore, MD.

The All-Star CIAA Men's Team for this year includes: Jimmy Boston/North Carolina Central, LeMans Shingler/ Johnson C. Smith, Rodney Gidney/ Livingstone College, Wiyle Petty/ Johnson C. Smith, Shun Riggins/Fayetteville State and Tony "Rob" Williams/ Winston-Salem State.

The Women's Team includes: Sharon Palmer/Johnson C. Smith, Marian Moore/ Fayetteville State, Juli Tarrance/ Livingstone, Lakisha Covington/Winston-Salem State, Markisha Clayburn/Johnson C. Smith and Denay Fields/Bowie State.

The game is billed as the north vs. the south. The North team includes (mostly) players from the CIAA and MEAC conferences. The South team includes primarily players from the SWAC and SIAC conferences. Each team will include some players from independent schools or other conferences.

Coaches for this year's game are retired NBA players Darryl Dawkins (Men's South), Ralph Sampson (Men's North) and Rick Mahorn (Women's South). Kym Hampton, retired WNBA player will coach the Women's North Team.
