NCCU Lady Eagles prepare for NCAA Regional Volleyball PlayoffsNovember 15, 2004 DURHAM, NC - After winning the 2004 CIAA Women's Volleyball Championship, North Carolina Central University now prepares for the school's first-ever postseason appearance at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Championship on Nov. 18-20, hosted by Lock Haven University (Pennsylvania).NCCU (24-13) will challenge the host team and No. 1 seed Lock Haven University in first round action on Thursday (Nov. 18) at 7:30 p.m. at Thomas Field House. Lock Haven (also nicknamed the Lady Eagles) won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference title and boasts an overall record of 25-3. "We played Lock Haven in the first game of the season last year, so it won't be a surprise as far as what type of team they have," said NCCU head coach Ingrid Wicker-McCree. "I think all of our girls have gone on the web site and looked at their statistics to see that they are a real solid team. But like Douglas [Hunter, assistant coach] said, 'Volleyball is volleyball. They have to do the same things we have to do. It's just a matter of who is more consistent.'" NCCU is among 64 teams participating in this year's NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship, consisting of eight teams from eight regions: Atlantic, Great Lakes, North Central, Northeast, Pacific, South, South Central and Southwest.
