2005 Mid-Atlantic Regional: Armstrong Atlantic 5, Fayetteville State 0

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 2-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State women's tennis
team improved to a perfect 25-0 on the season by blanking Fayetteville
State, 5-0, in the first match of the 2005 NCAA DII Women's Tennis
Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday afternoon. The Pirates advance to the
Mid-Atlantic Region Championship match, where they will match up against
the winner of GC&SU and USC Upstate later Friday.
AASU dropped just one point in doubles play, sweeping all three matches,
then picked up two singles wins to clinch the match. Luisa Cowper
defeated Constance Lee, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, while Dziyana
Nazaruk blanked LeJacquelyn Artis, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.
Fayetteville State, making its third-ever NCAA Championships appearance,
finishes the 2005 season with a 17-4 overall record.
The winner of the Mid-Atlantic Region earns one of 16 berths in the NCAA
Division II Women's Tennis Championships in Altamonte Springs, Fla., on
May 11-14.
