Statement Regarding 2006-2008 CIAA Tournament Bid Decision

CIAA Board of Directors Chairman Dr. Mickey Burnim, Elizabeth City State University:"Today in Norfolk, Virginia, the CIAA Board of Directors representing the 12 member institutions were presented with comprehensive and competitive tournament host-city bid presentations by representatives of Raleigh and Charlotte respectively.
It is the responsibility of the CIAA Board of Directors to carefully consider and review each bid with the growth and continued success of our annual basketball tournament in mind. Based on the information we have, and giving due diligence to all tangible details and elements, the board is not prepared to award the bid for the 2006 through 2008 CIAA Basketball Tournament(s) at this time.
A conference call is scheduled for later this month where the board will take a final vote. We hope to announce our decision at that time."
