Willie Gary Classic to be Held in Durham

This year’s Willie E. Gary Football Classic will be held at Wallace-Wade Stadium in Durham, NC on the campus of Duke University, Sunday, September 18, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. The name of the classic will change to the Willie E. Gary Triangle Classic and will feature Shaw taking on North Carolina Central University.

In years past, the Classic had featured Shaw University and Edward Waters College at Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, FL.

Shaw defeated Edward Waters in last year’s classic 21-12 in front of a crowd of 11,402 at Alltel Stadium. The first classic featured Shaw and Edward Waters in 2002.

The Bears and Eagles have not met on the gridiron since October 31, 1970, when the Eagles defeated the Bears 32-0 in Raleigh.
