Shaw Coach Earns 100th Victory

Shaw head women's basketball coach Jacques Curtis earned his 100th victory of his Lady Bear coaching career with a 101-60 victory over Virginia Union on Tuesday, February 1. Curtis, in his fifth season as head coach of the Lady Bears, has a record of 100 wins and 40 losses. He has guided the Lady Bears to back-to-back CIAA Championships in 2003 and 2004. Shaw is the third-ranked team in the country and is ranked number one in the South Atlantic Regional.

This is Curtis's second tenure as a member of the SU family, as he served as assistant men's basketball coach from 1986-96. He also served as softball and volleyball coach from 1988-90. Prior to joining Shaw, Coach Curtis was the head men's basketball coach at Savannah State University from 1997-98. His two-year mark was 20-34 overall, 10-20 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Curtis also served as assistant director of auxiliary services at Savannah State from 1996-99.
