Livingstone's Gillespie reaches 1,000 Plateau in 81-78 loss to FSUFebruary 18, 2005 Salisbury, NC – The Lady Blue Bears of Livingstone hosted its final home game of the season tonight against Fayetteville State University. Senior Sherree Gillespie reached a career plateau of 1,000 points. Gillespie entered the game shy by seven points and made the mark in the first half as Livingstone went into intermission with a 45-39. Fayetteville State maintained composure to edge out with an 81-78 victory.The Lady Blue Bears dominated the majority of the second half created a lead of ten. With 7:30 remaining in the game, the Lady Broncos put on a 13-6 run that ate up 3:57 minutes. Livingstone managed a four point lead with 1:04 left but faulted under pressure losing a four point lead with 26 seconds remaining. FSU’s Monica Mason led the game with 19 points and tied the game at 78 with 20 seconds left. Sherree Gillespie and Love Brown led the Lady Blue Bears with 17 points. Livingstone scored its last field goal with 1:39 remaining. LC shot 45.8% from the floor and committed 23 turnovers. FSU shot 40.3% from the floor and 71.9% from the free-throw line.
