Former ECSU baseball standout draftedMay 17, 2005 ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Antoine Tucker, a former outfielder on the Elizabeth City State University baseball team has been drafted by the Windy City Thunderbolts of the Frontier League. Tucker was one of four individuals selected by the Thunderbolts in the Frontier League draft held in Washington, PA. Also taken in the draft were Ron Mendez (Cal State Stanislaus), Eric Jones (Albany State) and Paul Badekis (Mount Saint Mary, NY). Tucker, a native of Hampton, VA, played two seasons at ECSU (2003-2004). In 2004 he was named CIAA Player of the Year after leading the nation in stolen bases with 59 and runs per game with 1.65 per outing. In his final season with the Vikings, he batted .439 and led the team with 48 runs batted in. The four chosen by the Thunderbolts will now have the opportunity to compete for a spot on the Thunderbolts opening day roster. They will have a pre-season game versus the Rockford Riverhawks on May 21. The Thunderbolts will open the regular season on May 25th with a three-game home stand against the Kalamazoo Kings. The Windy City Thunderbolts (Crestwood, IL) are a member of the 12-team Frontier League. The Frontier League is an independent league with franchises throughout the Midwest.
