Fifteen All-CIAA Selections Headline East Coast Bowl Rosters

November 24, 2004

Petersburg, VA – The 2004 East Coast Bowl game will be held this Saturday, November 27 in Petersburg, Virginia at Historic Cameron Field. The East Coast Bowl game is an annual All-Star football game that features the best Division II and III athletes from across the Mid-Atlantic region. Each year the game continues to grow and has blossomed into a monumental event for the City of Petersburg. The City of Petersburg, along with the National Football Foundation/College Hall Of Fame co-sponsor the game and pride themselves on the fact that players are provided this opportunity to showcase their ability free of charge. The game is designed such that any and all proceeds generated are used to award a scholarship to a local high school senior who will be continuing his football career at a Division II or III institution.

Players will be reporting to Petersburg on Thursday (Thanksgiving) and will participate in various scout activities, as well as making appearances throughout the community for inspirational purposes. The CIAA defensive player of the year, Charles Roberts (LB, Fayetteville State) will lead a group of 23 CIAA athletes to accept invitations to this year’s East Coast Bowl game. Included in that are 15 representatives from the 2004 All-CIAA football team highlighted by three offensive linemen that were first team selections, Carlos Rojas (OL, Fayetteville State), Ricardo Phillips (OL, NC Central), and Emmanuel Akah (OL, Winston-Salem State). First team All-CIAA defensive members to be named to the East Coast Bowl team are: Rashaad Jackson (DL, Virginia Union), Moises Gordon (LB, Livingstone), Atcheson Conway (S, Bowie State), and Howard Williams, Jr. (CB, Elizabeth City).
