The CIAA Announces Men’s and Women’s All-Rookie Team and Rookies of the Year

Hampton, VA- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association is proud to celebrate its selections for the 2005 CIAA All-Rookie Teams. The CIAA Sports Information Directors Association selected Celeste Trahan of Elizabeth City State University and Maurice Hooper of Johnson C. Smith University as the Women’s and Men’s Rookie of the Year.

Celeste Trahan, a 6-2, center from Stockton, California, is a six time CIAA Rookie of the Week and leads the Lady Vikings in scoring with 16.3 ppg and rebounding with 13.4 rpg. Trahan also is ranked #8 in the conference for scoring and is #1 for rebounding.

Maurice Hooper, a 6-0 freshman guard from Reidsville, NC, and leads the Golden Bulls in assists with 4.3 pg and averages 6.2 ppg. Hooper is ranked #2 in the conference for assists.

The All-Rookie Teams and Rookies of the Year will be formally honored with the All Conference Teams at the Women’s and Men’s Tip-Off Banquets. Both banquets will be held at the Embassy Suites-RDU in Cary on Sunday, February 27 and Tuesday, March 1 at 6:30 pm, respectively.
