Shaw's Greenup Impressive at NBA WorkoutJune 15, 2004 Shaw All-American forward Anthony
Greenup worked out for the Memphis Grizzlies June 3 and the Grizzlies organization
was very impressed with his workout. The Grizzlies are not allowed
to comment on individual player workouts but Tony
Barone, Jr.,
Grizzlies Director of Scouting did say, "[Anthony] is a great kid." Others observing Greenup's workout included head coach Hubie Brown and Director of Basketball Operations, Jerry West. Greenup will work out for the Houston Rockets this week and the expansion Charlotte Bobcats in late June. "I think the workout went pretty
well," said a modest Greenup. "I hit a lot of shots and blocked a lot
of shots. I just did what I usually do."
Greenup was named All-CIAA and CIAA Defensive Player of the Year. The Baton Rouge, LA native led the nation in field goal percentage (.709), while averaging 20.9 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. He was the only player in the country ranked in the top 30 in those categories. The NBA Draft will be held June 24 in New York City at Madison Square Garden. Back to CIAA Online Front Page |
