JCSU Men's Tennis Receives Automatic Bid to the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Johnson C.
Smith University men's tennis team received an automatic bid to participate in
the NCAA Division II
Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament after winning the Central Intercollegiate
Athletic Association Tournament Title for the sixth consecutive year.
The Mid-Atlantic Region, a single elimination tournament, is split into two
separate four-team brackets. University of North Florida - ranked No. 3 nationally
- will play host to its side of the bracket as the overall No. 1 seed in the
region, while Barry University - ranked No. 8 nationally will also serve as
a regional host. All matches will be played May 7 and 8 with the winners advancing
to the NCAA Division II National Championships to be played May 12-15 in Altamonte
Springs, Fla.
The number eight seed Johnson C. Smith University Golden Bulls will take on
the number one seed Ospreys of the University of North Florida in the first
round. The Georgia College & State University Bobcats, a member of the
Peach Belt Conference, received the No. 5 overall regional seed and will play
the fourth-seeded Lander University Bearcats in the first round at the UNF
Tennis Complex. Times are to be determined.
The winners of the first-round matches will play in the regional championship
May 9 at UNF.
