CHARLOTTE, NC - - Lauren Goss has joined an elite set of young ladies, becoming the 13th member of the Lady Golden Bull 1,000 point club. She was able to accomplish this in just her junior year.

This incredible accomplishment came during an 89-43 thrashing over Allen University in which Lauren had 12 points, five rebounds, 2 assists, one block and two steals in 15 minutes of play. Her dad, JCSU alum, was on hand to capture the actual shot.

"I think it is a great accomplishment for me," remarked an elated Goss. "She has been a steady force for us offensively," said head coach Vanessa Taylor, "At the time, she is leading the team in scoring and for this year's team, it was much needed. Lauren has been able to improve her field goal percentage from the first half of the season until now. She is a fierce competitor and I am sure she is excited about the opportunity about winning first place in the western division."

Currently, Lauren is sixth in the CIAA in scoring averaging 16.2, sixth in field goal percentage, 13th in free-throw percentage, tied for sixth place in blocked shots, and 16th in rebounding.

The week got even better as head coach Steve Joyner recorded his 300th career victory in a thrilling 84-78 win over the Bears of Shaw University. Joyner, who has had a less than successful season by his standards, (three back-to back 20-win seasons) has accomplished yet another feat that no other coach in JCSU history has, winning 300 games.

Both Goss and Joyner will be honored during the next and final home double header which is tomorrow, February 17, 2004 in Brayboy Gymnasium against Fayetteville State University.

Note: The women's team are playing for first place in the western division.
