CIAA Women's and Men's Coach of the Year and Tournament Pairings AnnouncedFebruary 21, 2004The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Jacques Curtis of Shaw University Women's Coach of the Year and Luke D'Alessio of Bowie State University Men's Coach of the Year as selected by the CIAA Executive Committee. Curtis, last year's Women's Tournament Outstanding Coach returns this year with an impeccable regular season record, 10-0 Div., 16-0 Conf, clinching the Eastern Division. The Shaw Lady Bears have earned a BYE this Monday in preparation for Tuesday's 9:00pm contest. They will compete against the victor of tomorrow's 1:00pm match-up; 4W seed Livingstone College and 5E seed Virginia State University. Luke D'Alessio led the Bowie State University Bulldogs to their first CIAA Championship victory in the school's history and earned Men's Tournament Outstanding Coach honors. He has proven himself again by bringing his squad to the top of the Eastern Division with an impressive 9-1 Divisional and 14-2 Conference regular season record. Bowie State has also earned a BYE, where they will play the winner of the 9:00pm 4W seed North Carolina Central University vs 5E seed Elizabeth City State University game on Wednesday.
