CIAA Kicks-Off Spring Sports Championships With Track & Field in Queen City

Hampton, VA… The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association will host the first segment of its Spring Sports Championships in Charlotte, NC, leading with the Outdoor Track & Field Championship on April 18-19 on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University with events beginning at 10:00am.

This year’s events will highlight some of the nation’s most stellar track & field athletes including record-holding Jason Smoots of North Carolina Central University and St. Augustine's Cadriesha Akinfe, Samaiyah Islam, Wilan Louis, Libia Rodriquez and Maria Medina.

The second segment of championships will commence on April 24th at Rocky River Golf Course and the Hornet’s Nest in Charlotte at 10:00am and 9:00am respectively. The Baseball Championships Play-in game will begin on April 23rd at 3:00pm at Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA.
