JCSU Men and FSU Women Receives Automatic Bids to the Mid-Atlantic Tennis Regionals

Johnson C. Smith University's men and Fayetteville State University's women have received automatic bids to participate in the Mid-Atlantic Regionals after winning Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament. JCSU won for the fifth consecutive year while FSU captured its second straight championship.

The Mid-Atlantic Region is split into two separate four-team brackets. For the men, the University of North Florida - ranked No. 4 nationally - will play host to its side of the bracket as the overall No. 1 seed in the region, while No. 2-seeded University of South Carolina Spartanburg also will serve as a regional host. All matches will be played May 2 and 3 with the winners advancing to the NCAA Division II National Championships to be played May 8-11 in Altamonte Spring, Fla.

JCSU's Golden Bulls will take on the Ospreys of the University of North Florida in the first round at 9:30 am. The Armstrong Atlantic State University Pirates, a member of the Peach Belt Conference, received the No. 5 overall regional seed and will play the fourth-seeded Lees-McRae College Bobcats in the first round at the UNF Tennis Complex at 2:30 pm.

The winners of the first-round matches will play in the regional championship May 3 at UNF.

In the women's regional, Georgia College & State University will host the Mid-Atlantic Women's Tennis Regional Tournament May 2 - 3 at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility in Milledgeville, GA.

FSU will open the tournament against the Bobcats, ranked 7th nationally, on Friday, May 2 at 10 a.m.. Kennesaw State University and USC Spartanburg will face off at 2 p.m. in the other side of the bracket. Saturday's regional championship match will be at 10 a.m.
