JCSU's Marco Spears Selected for 2003 Black College All-Star Classic

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA- Senior Marco Spears was selected for the 2003 Black College All-Star Basketball Classic. This is the seventh annual classic presented by Target Sports Marketing.

The classic consists of selected students from the MEAC and CIAA representing the North and the SWAC and SIAC from the South. Along with Spears's from the CIAA were Conference Player of the Year Patrick Pope from St. Augustine's College, Tim Washington from the CIAA 2002-2003 Conference Champions Bowie State, Shawn Ray from North Carolina Central, Bryan Chapman from Fayetteville State and Kenyon Booker from Shaw.

A forward for the Golden Bulls basketball team, Spears produced heavily for the Golden Bulls in just two seasons. Spears entered Smith in his junior year. In a little over a year, Spears scored 1,051 points, becoming a member of JCSU's 1000 point club. This season he was selected as a member of the All-CIAA, Pre-Season All-CIAA, and Pre-Season Black Voices Quarterly All-CIAA. He scored a career high 39 points vs. Carson-Newman and Fayetteville State and was the team's leading scorer averaging 21.7 points per game.

This year the classic will be held on April 12th, 2003 in Baltimore, Maryland at the Hill Field House on Morgan State's campus.
