CIAA Football Attendance Ranks Fourth in Division IIMarch 7, 2003CIAA Football attendance ranked fourth among the 41 Division II conferences in 2002 according to NCAA statistics. The CIAA ranked fifth in 2001. Ranked ahead of such football powerhouse conferences, such as the Gulf South and the South Atlantic, the CIAA can only look to keep climbing up the attendance chart. The Conference adds two new football-playing members in 2003 (Shaw) and in 2004 (St. Paul’s). The North Central Conference led all Division II conferences in attendance. North Carolina Central led the CIAA in attendance in 2002, followed by Bowie State, Winston-Salem State, and Livingstone. These four schools all ranked in the top twenty attendance chart. “The CIAA Football program continues to improve every year,”
said Jeffrey McLeod, CIAA Assistant to the Commissioner. “Our climb
up the attendance chart in Division II football is a testament to that
fact.”
