2003 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee Announces Championship Field Brackets
Four CIAA teams get bids

INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee announced today the field of 64 teams for the 2003 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship. Twenty-one conferences have been awarded automatic qualification. The remaining 43 teams were selected at large by the committee.

Eight regional tournaments, consisting of eight teams each, will be conducted March 14, 15 and 17 at regional sites. The eight quarterfinalists will advance to the finals at Jenkins Arena in Lakeland, Florida, March 26, 27 and 29.

CIAA runner-up Virginia Union, Johnson C. Smith and Shaw received at-large berths in the tournament.

Metropolitan State defeated Kentucky Wesleyan 80-72 to win the 2002 NCAA Division II Men's Elite Eight in Evansville, Indiana.

The 47th annual championship game will be broadcast live on CBS at 1 p.m. Eastern time.
