2003 CIAA Baseball Tournament Pairings Set

The 2003 CIAA Baseball Championships got underway Wednesday at Whaley Colbert field on the campus of Virginia State University.

In the opening play-in game, the #4 seeded Falcons of Saint Augustine’s College downed the #5 seeded Tigers of Saint Paul’s College, 28-8. The Falcons (10-21) now advance to the double elimination tournament to face the defending champion Bears of Shaw University (18-14) Thursday on Virginia State’s campus.

The host #3 seeded Virginia State Trojans (17-16) will battle #2 Elizabeth City State Vikings at the Petersburg Sports Complex. Both games are slated for a 10:00am start. The winners of these games will face off on Friday, while the losers try to stave off elimination at 2:00pm on the campus of VSU.
