ECSU Lady Vikings to Appear at NCAA Softball Regionals

The Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State University (20-9) are one of 48 teams to compete in the NCAA Division II Regional Softball Championship. The double-elimination tourney will begin this weekend in 8 regional sites with the winners advancing to the Championship, May 16-20 at the James I. Moyer, Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia.

As the number 6 seed in the Mid-Atlantic Region, they will face #1 seed Bloomsburg (38-6) on Thursday, in Bloosmberg, Pennsylvania. If they are successful in their first outing, they will meet either California-PA (32-5) or Indiana (Pa) 25-13. The consolation game is scheduled for Thursday.

In this year's CIAA Championship, Elizabeth City battled back from the loser's bracket to capture their first CIAA Softball Championship crown. It is both the CIAA's and ECSU's first regional appearance.
