City of Raleigh to hold Celebratory Rally for Shaw's Basketball Team

The City of Raleigh, North Carolina has scheduled a rally to congratulate the Shaw University men's basketball team. Scheduled for Wednesday, March 27 at noon at the Raleigh Convention and Conference Center, the event will feature appearances from the basketball team, head coach Joel Hopkins, the Shaw Pep Band, Assistant City Manager Lawrence Wray and special guest, Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker.

Shaw won the 2002 CIAA Basketball Championship and advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA Division II Playoffs. This is the first time the Bears have won the CIAA tournament and their deepest advancement in the NCAA Division II tournament, ever.
