CIAA Adds To Coach Of The Year List

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announces the 2001 Volleyball, Bowling, Men's Cross-Country and Women's Cross-Country Coaches of the Year. The CIAA Executive Council convened this morning to select Dianthia Ford-Kee,Volleyball; Michael Lawson, Women's Cross-Country; George Williams, Men's Cross-Country and Lin Stewart, Bowling to the 2001 list of Coach of the Year honorees.

After an undefeated divisional season, 10-0, and 14-3 overall, Shaw University's Ford-Kee is named the 2001 Volleyball Coach of the Year. Ford-Kee has been leading the Lady Bears since 1990.

Michael Lawson of North Carolina Central University is chosen as the 2001 Women's Cross-Country Coach of the Year. The Lady Eagles defeated the 2001 champion, Saint Augustine's, twice during the regular season and finished second in the conference championship.

Nationally recognized, George Williams of Saint Augustine's College, continues to reign as the conference's top coach in Men's Cross-Country.

Earning the CIAA's is first Bowling Coach of the Year award, is Lin Stewart of North Carolina Central University. The Lady Eagles withstood 19.5 hours of championship competition to be crown the 2001 CIAA Champions.

The CIAA will acknowledge all honorees at the Annual Spring Meeting Luncheon in May.
