Coaches of the Year and Tournament Pairings Released

Raleigh, NC - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Peggy Davis of Virginia State University, as the Women's Basketball Coach of the Year, and Luke D'Alessio of Bowie State university, Men's Coach of the Year; as selected by the CIAA Executive Committee.

Davis, a two-time Coach of the Week, led the Trojanettes to the top of the Eastern Division with a 9-1 record and 12-4 conference record. Davis and the Trojanettes have earned a bye and are scheduled to play at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena.

D'Alessio, also a two-time Coach of the Week, finished second in the Eastern Division behind Shaw University, sharing the same divisional record of 9-1, and finishing 12-4 in the conference. D'Alession and his Bulldogs also earned a bye, and will face-off at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Raleigh ESA.

The CIAA released its pairings for the 2002 Basketball Tournament as determined by the CIAA Tournament Committee.
