WINSTON-SALEM, NC-- Winston-Salem State University Athletic Director Anne Little has decided to move on and will leave the University by August 31.
In the past couple of years, the WSSU athletic program has had many successes. Under Little’s leadership the Ram program added new events, including the Midway Classic football weekend and the Lady Rams Invitational Basketball Tournament. During the 1999-2000 season, WSSU athletic teams won Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association championships in football, men’s basketball and women’s softball. Coaches and student-athletes received numerous honors for their athletic, academic and community service accomplishments and Little was named CIAA Athletic Director of Year. In 2000-01, the football team repeated as CIAA champions but lost to Tuskegee University in the Pioneer Bowl. The men’s basketball team received a bid to the NCAA Division II playoffs.
In accepting Little’s resignation, Chancellor Harold L. Martin, Sr., said, "Anne Little has served WSSU athletics with distinction for nearly four years. She has worked diligently to improve WSSU Athletics and the university is appreciative. We wish her well."
Little joined WSSU in July 1997. A search will begin immediately for a new athletic director.
