RALEIGH, N.C. - With the demand for Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Basketball Tournament higher than ever, the CIAA board of directors have decided to open a section in the upper level of the Entertainment and Sports Arena to accommodate ticket demand. All lower level, club level and suite seats have been sold out for weeks.
The CIAA and City of Raleigh Steering Committee worked diligently with the Wake County Fire Marshall's Office to make sure that seats would be available given the presence of the CIAA Vendor's Pavilion on the top floor. The pavilion will have more than 100 vendors selling everything from leather coats to exotic jewelry to fashionable clothing to cultural artwork.
"The important thing for CIAA fans to realize is that the atmosphere at the CIAA is such that all fans, regardless of seat location, can mingle throughout the Entertainment and Sports Arena. Movement from one level to the other is 'free-flowing'" CIAA Commissioner Leon Kerry said. "That is, once you have a ticket, you can move about freely in the arena, whether it be upper level, lower level or club level. The party atmosphere is everywhere and no one is excluded."
Tickets for the tournament being held Feb. 26 - March 3, are $95 for adults, and single day tickets are available for Monday through Thursday. There are no single day tickets for Friday's semifinals or Saturday's championship games for adults. Student tickets are $37.50 for the entire week, with single day tickets available each day of the tournament for CIAA and area students with a valid student ID.
Tickets are available at the Entertainment and Sports Arena box office or by calling 919-861-2300.
